Government Assures Farmers of Better Days Ahead
Patna: Aug. 25, 2008
Agriculture Minister Nagmani, at the Kisan Mahapanchayat meeting organized by the Vidyasagar Social Security Services and Research Center at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Monday, said the government was working very hard to turn its dream agricultural roadmap into reality by introducing new farming techniques and judicious use of land.
"Besides introducing new methods of farming, the government is also fine-tuning its agricultural policies that would greatly affect the farmers in raising their productivity and increasing their profit," Nagmani said adding the state would soon launch a campaign to scientifically analyze soil in various regions to optimize use of the land.
Labor Minister Awadhesh Narayan Singh encouraged the farmers to talk about their concerns and apprehensions that resulted in a dialog that lasted for a couple of hours with the farmers opening up to their problems and deficiencies in the government and loopholes in the system that prevent them from seeking help from financial institutions.
"If 2,000 trucks can enter Bihar each day to deliver apples and other fruits, there is no reason why 2,000 trucks carrying Bihari produce cannot leave Bihar for other states," Ramadhar Singh, the chairperson of the Kisan Commission said.
