The project set up under the private-public partnership by the SREI-Sahaj under the national e-Governance plan, would enable people to perform many tasks involving the government without ever having to step out of their village, former SEBI chief M. Damodaran said.

Over 5,000 such centers would be set up throughout Bihar in next few years, Damodaran said.

The CSC would provide villagers with information related to the prices of commodities, weather conditions, progress in various government projects including Indira Awaas Yojana, NREGA, MP Local Area Development Fund, roads, schools, and health services in the areas.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi expressed his satisfaction over the set up of CSC saying Bihar was firmly on the road of progress in the field of Information and Technology.

"Just a few years ago, Bihar was identified by its 'aloo and baloo' (potatoes and sand) but now it would be known for making dramatic progress in the field of IT," he said.

Submitting tenders through computers, filling and submitting government applications, making railway reservations, and e-banking are just few of the services that the CSC would provide to the people of Panapur, Damodaran said.
