A number private organizations and schools and colleges in Patna on Monday organized various events including peaceful rallies and health camps to spread awareness about the dangers of HIV/AIDS to mark the World AIDS Day.
Hundreds of Patna Women's College students sporting the AIDS ribbon took out a rally organized by the Bihar State AIDA Control Society (BSACS).
The rally that began at the Patna Women's College gate on Bailey Road was flagged off by Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav who also spoke about ways to prevent AIDS from spreading and the need for empathy for the children of AIDS victims.
After passing through various streets, the rally arrived at the Kargil Chowk near Gandhi Maidan where the activists distributed free condoms to the passersby and encouraged them to take AIDS screening test.
Similar events were organized by the students of J. D. Women's College, Magadh Mahila College, Patna College, Patna Women's Training College, Patna Science College, Gyan Niketan, Delhi Public School, St. Michael's High School, G. D. Pataliputra High School, NCC, NSS, UNICEF (Patna), and Art of Living.
