Choubey Serves Ultimatum to District Officials
Patna: February 1, 2008
Urban Development Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey on Friday lashed out at the district officials calling them inept and inefficient for not trying to implement various developmental projects while also demanding a detailed report on the status of each schemes.
At a high-level meeting of the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), the Patna Regional Development Authority (PRDA), and the Water Board officials, Choubey said it was disgraceful that these offices were sitting on crores of rupees earmarked for a number of projects and yet the progress was so slow that it made the government look bad in the eyes of the citizens of Bihar.
"The current fiscal year is about to end and yet the faith of projects to the tune of Rs. 9 crore out of a total of Rs. 10 crore is hanging in limbo," Choubey said.
The minister further urged the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) minister and secretary to appoint more engineers to expedite developmental projects.
"If things did not improve soon in these departments, serious actions would be taken against the erring officials," Choubey said.
