Patna: February 1, 2008

Health Minister rebukes officials. Photo by Shashi UttamHealth Minister Chandramohan Rai, while attending a seminar on 'Vision of Outsourcing of Radiology' at the Bihar Industries Association (BIA) hall in Patna on Friday, said while the government was committed to provide better health care to the people of Bihar, the 'babus' running the shows were responsible for killing a number of major health projects in the state.

Giving example of the premature demise of the state's dream scheme of launching mobile hospitals in Bihar, Rai said that the plan was good, the intentions were honest, yet those responsible for running the shows, read the people managing the program, somehow killed it in the lack of enthusiasm and for personal benefits.

"The government alone cannot implement all the health-related schemes in the state and that is why it is encouraging enterprises under the Private-Partnership Plan but some people have problems with such ideas and would go to any length to sabotage any program," the minister said.
