Freedom Fighter Honored at a State Function

Freedom Fighter Honored. Photo by Shashi UttamChief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna on Tuesday paid his respect to the late freedom fighter Jaglal Chowdhary at a state-sponsored event at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall to mark his birth anniversary.

The function was also attended by a Governor representative, former Chief Minister of Bihar Jagannath Mishra, legislator Aslam Azaad, the son and daughter of Chowdhary Dharmdeo Chowdhary and Veena Devi respectively, and many other public figures.

A second event in honor of Chowdhary was also organized at Patna's Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir where Bihar Assembly Speaker Uday Narain Chowdhary announced the state's decision to install a life-size statue of the freedom fighter in Patna.

Chief guest and the Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Council Arun Kumar said that Chowdhary was a true Gandhian and dedicated his life for the cause of ordinary people and deserved state honor sixty years after gaining independence from the British.
