One Dead; Three Injured in Bailey Road Accidents

Patna: February 5, 2008

In two separate accidents within a short period of half an hour on late Tuesday evening, one person died and three other received serious injuries due to the undergoing construction works on Patna's Bailey Road, the police in Patna said.

In the first incident, the motorcycle of the 28-year old Bank of India (Barhaiya branch) clerk Raj Kumar was hit by an oncoming vehicle injuring him critically. By the time he was taken to a hospital in Rajvanshi Nagar, Kumar succumbed to his injuries.

Less than half-an-hour later, three men riding on a motorcycle were hit by a tractor coming from the opposite direction lobbing all three occupants several feet away from the accident spot.

They were rushed to the same hospital in Rajvanshi Nagar where they battle for their lives.

The police arrested the driver of the tractor while also seizing the vehicle.

Attempts were being made to identify the auto and its driver that hit Kumar, the police said.
