Former President Kalam Arrives in Patna

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other leaders in Bihar on Thursday night at Patna Airport gave a warm welcome to former President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam who arrived in the state capital to participate in the first meeting of the proposed Nalanda International University as its first Visitor.
Kumar handed over a flower bouquet to the President who has been invited by the state government to offer infrastructural advise on the proposed Nalanda International University.
"The idea of this university is yours and I am committed to fulfill your dream," Kumar told Kalam who responded by saying that the Nalanda International University, by establishing higher standard of learning, would become a beacon of inspiration in the entire continent.
The President is scheduled to leave for Rajgir on Friday morning by a state helicopter. In Nalanda he would review the site of the proposed campus. From Rajgir, Kalam would fly to Paliganj to attend a conference of farmers.
He would return to Patna by 1:30 after which he would hold a meeting with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other officials on the future of Nalanda International University. Kalam would also attend a symposium on 'Bihar – a Leading Knowledge Hub' at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in the evening before leaving for New Delhi at around 9:30 pm.
