Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Friday at Pilkhi village in Nalanda district, was hurt on the head after unruly elements pelted him with stones to express their anger over the government's acquisition of land for the construction of the proposed Nalanda International University.
Kumar was visiting Pilkhi village with the nation's former President of India Dr. A. P. J. Kalam to see the land where the proposed university is to be built.
Demanding more monetary compensation for the land and jobs in the government departments, villagers hurled stones at the Chief Minister hitting him in the head at least four or five times.
The police opened lathi charge to disperse the mob as the Chief Minister was rushed to Patna where the doctors performed a CT Scan on his head the result of which is awaited.
An undaunted Chief Minister, however, played down the incident saying he was still committed to bring development in Nalanda "even if I die in the process". He did though complained about feeling dizzy and was told by the doctors to take rest for the next couple of days.
