Chitkohra Businessmen Protest against rise in Burglaries

Shops in Chitkohra burglarized. Photo by Shashi UttamShop-owners in Chitkohra area on Saturday observed a one-day strike by keeping their shops closed in protest against yesterday's burglary at two jewelry and an electronic shops while demanding security for their businesses.

The rally, sponsored by the Communist Party of India – ML, started at the Chitkohra market and after covering various streets, arrived at the Chitkohra bus stand where they blamed the district administration for failing to provide security to the business-owners.

Meanwhile, raids were being carried out to apprehend the criminals who broke into three shops on late Thursday night and escaped with gold and silver jewelries and watches worth over Rs. 5 lakh.
