Uddhav Joins Raj in Bashing Migrant Workers
Patna: February 10, 2008
A day after he lambasted his cousin Raj Thackeray for 'spoiling the image of Maharashtra' by making anti-North Indian statements, Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray took a U-turn on Sunday and threatened to 'deport workers from outside' if they came to Mumbai looking a job in the ongoing multi-crore rupees airport modernization project.
"Outsiders coming to Mumbai hoping to work in the airport project would be packed off and sent back in a cargo plane," Uddhav declared.
Almost immediately, people affiliated with various political parties in Patna on Sunday condemned Uddhav's anti-outsiders tirade and 'performed execution' on him and his equally inane cousin Raj Thackeray by performing a mock hanging of the two.
The students' wing of the Janata Dal – U took out a 'donkey rally' on Sunday and later performed the symbolic 'hanging' of the two leaders while accusing them of being guilty of spreading regional hatred in the nation.
Demanding immediate arrest of Raj Thackeray, the leaders of the National Progressive Party Prof. Amar Kant Sah said the Thackerays' statements bordered on the line of being anti-national and the cousins deserved to be slapped with charges appropriate under such circumstances.
