People in Patna on Monday celebrated Saraswati Puja with usual zeal and fervor as organizers displayed their lavish pandals at many places and schools where children gathered to offer their prayers to the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom and enjoy the traditional prasad consisting of Mishrikand, Makko, and Bair.
Wearing yellow-colored dresses, women and girls also made a beeline at various temples including the Hanuman Temple at the Patna Junction to offer 'Gangajal' to Goddess Saraswati.
Functions were held at colleges and other private organizations to mark the festival.
At Magadh Mahila College, the newly-appointed Vice Chancellor of Patna University Dr. Shyam Lal mingled with the students and applied 'gulal' at each other.
An elaborate program was also arranged at Patna's JD Women's College where girls were participated in the Puja and had fun with their fellow students.
Special functions were also held at Bihar Sanskritik Vidyapith, Premalok Mission School, New Patna Montessori School, Cricket Academy of Bihar, and Patna Central School, where young students participated in Bengali, Rajasthani, Punjabi, and Bihari folk dances.
Students living in various hostels also celebrated Saraswati Puja of their own while some offices including a few banks and insurance companies, while taking the day off, took time to go to their respective offices and participated in their company-sponsored Puja.
