IT Raids at School Owner's Houses Net Assets worth Crores

Patna: February 13, 2008

Income Tax officials in Patna on Wednesday raided various houses of a private school owner and seized properties and cash, including three luxury cars and several real estates, estimated to be in crores, officials said.

The raids were conducted simultaneously at his residences in Patna, Mehrauli, Dalsinghsarai, and Deoghar and two schools in Kankarbagh and Sri Krishna Puri in Patna. A Honda CRV, a Honda City, and a Mitsubishi Pajero, cash to the tune of Rs. 10 lakh and documents related to three bank lockers were among some of the items seized during the raid on Wednesday.

Senior Income Tax officer S. D. Jha, while refusing to reveal the name of the school owner, said raids were still continuing and once all the numbers were added up, only then one would know the extent of this person's wealth.
