Protests against UPA Government over Rising Petroleum Prices

Photo by Shashi UttamSeveral political parties including the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), and Communist Party of India, in Patna on Friday, staged protests against rising prices of petroleum products by burning the effigies of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, and the Petroleum Minister Murali Deora.

Protests were organized at Dak Bungalow crossing, outside Patna Junction, and Bharat Singh Chowk where the organizers demanded an immediate roll back in the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene.

A similar protest was organized by the CPI-ML against rising prices of essential commodities.
