Rs. 4 lakh Looted from Businessman in Kankarbagh

Patna: February 25, 2008

Armed criminals in Kankarbagh area on Monday afternoon ambushed a Maruti Van and snatched Rs. 4 lakh in cash from the driver and clerk of an iron and steel trader Sitaram Agrawal, officials said.

According to the police report, Kedar Prasad, the van's driver, and Sujit Kumar, an employee of Sitaram Agrawal went to the office of Hanuman Agrawal, a business associate of Sitaram Agrawal, in Kankarbagh and collected Rs. 4 lakh in cash for business purposes.

On their return to their office on Exhibition Road, two men on a motorcycle forced them to pull over by brandishing a gun. After forcing them to roll their windows down, the criminals then snatched the bag containing the cash and escaped.

Police station in-charge Ramakant Prasad said the police was investigating the case from various angles including the likelihood of the employees' active role in the robbery.

So far no arrest has been made.
