An argument over occupying the sidewalk in front of a medical shop at New Market on Station Road in Patna on Monday soon turned violent as dozens of sidewalk vendors attacked the Sagar Medical Hall and vandalized the store after its owners Vivek and Rajesh Kumar tried to prevent them from setting up their shops in front of their store.

The incident occurred shortly after noon as sidewalk vendors, irritated by the shop owners continued insistence on taking their business elsewhere, forced their entries into the medical shop and damaged the counter and other glass displays to the tune of several thousand rupees while also assaulting the Vendors, Store Owners Clash. The situation was brought under control when Kotwali police station in-charge Abhay Narayan Singh arrived there with his force.

Fearing spreading of the violence, all shops in the area downed their shutters and left the scene.

Singh, despite clear evidence, denied any damage of the property and said no FIR was lodged by the either party.
