Sasaram: February 28, 2008

The kidnappers of engineer Sanjay Singh and Dharmendra Singh, the supervisor of Jharkhand-based Vijeta Construction, under mounting pressure from the state police, set free their victims a day after picking them up, officials in Sasaram said on Thursday.

The two men were abducted by over two dozen Maoist extremists following an ambush of their camp at Chhotki Chenari under Shivsagar police station in Rohtas district on Tuesday night spurring a series of police activities for their search and rescue.

With pressure mounting from all sides, the criminals freed Sanjay and Dharmendra Singh at Belao village in Kaimur district, Additional Superintendent of Police P. Kannan said.

Four persons have been taken into custody for interrogation, the police said.
