Biharis Should Learn to Speak Marathi; Says Bhojpuri Actor
Patna: February 29, 2008
Bhojpuri film star Ravi Kishan, while promoting his new film 'Sab Golmaal Ha' in Patna on Friday, downplayed violence against Biharis in Maharashtra saying many Biharis were returning to their home state not because they were chased out of Maharashtra but they were simply coming to Bihar due to the marriage season in the state.
"There were a handful of incidents against Biharis but not as much as the mainstream media has reported it to be," the actor said adding Biharis should learn to speak at least some Marathi if they have chosen Maharashtra as their home away from home.
Ravi Kishan said situation was very much in control in Maharashtra and Biharis had no reason to leave the state that they had chosen as their land of profession.
Later the actor, along with other caste members and makers of the film, participated in the premier of the film at the local Veena cinema hall.
