Lack of Drinking Water Sparks Protest in Machhua Toli

Patna: February 29, 2008

Protest against water crisis in Patna. Photo by Shashi UttamHundreds of people in Machhua Toli in Patna on Friday showed their anger by blocking Arya Kumar Road to protest against severe drinking water crisis in their area for last one week saying the local administration had failed on all fronts including removal of garbage from the streets.

"Despite our repeated complaints, the Patna Municipal Corporation has failed to fix the problem as a result of which we do not have even a drop of drinking water in our homes," said the protestors.

On Thursday there was a similar protest in Naya Tola where residents took to the street to protest against spilling of dirty water from the sewage.

Such protests are becoming more common by the day despite tall claims by the local administration.
