Range Officer's Son Commits Suicide on New Year's Day

Tragedy struck in a family in Gardanibagh in Patna on the New Year's Day when the 26-year old son of a Range Officer posted in Gopalganj committed suicide by hanging himself with a plastic rope after a minor dispute with other family members, Gardanibagh police station in-charge Shivaji Prasad said.
Prabhakar, the son of Range Officer Prakash Kumar, following a dispute over consumption of liquor on the New Year's eve, walked out of his house in Chitkohra telling his wife of less than two years that he would be back shortly.
From there, he went to a vacant government flat on Road Number 35 in Gardanibagh where he hung himself with a noose made out of a plastic rope.
By the time people discovered his body, he was already dead.
The police sent Prabhakar's body to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for the customary post mortem.
Family members deny the victim was an alcoholic though his brother did say that Prabhakar had taken to drinking alcohol in the last few months.
The police are investigating the case.
