State Launches Schemes to Curb Human Trafficking in Bihar

The state government, in a joint operation with the UN Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC), has formed three cells to combat human trafficking and put an end to flesh trade in the state.
With a nod from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the three units would work in tandem with each other in Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya led by senior police officials of the districts in an attempt to check human trafficking and wipe of interstate prostitution rings that destroys many innocent lives in Bihar each year.
Additional Director General of Police A. K. Gupta, while talking to media on Friday, said he would oversee all three units and a statewide action plan to combat the problem would be announced by the government soon.
"Under this plan, not only efforts would be made to stop human trafficking and flesh trade, schemes would be put in place to recover and rehabilitate the victims so they find the right place in the society that they richly deserve.
As reported, state Director General of Police (DGP) Ashish Ranjan Sinha, opened a two-day training in Patna on Thursday to spread awareness about the dynamics of human trafficking and its devastating impact on the society.
Similar training sessions have been scheduled for Shahabad and Gaya later this month.
