Activists under the banner of Secular Citizens Joint Front on Saturday in Patna took out a rally in protest against the recent attacks on Catholics in Orissa demanding immediate actions against the perpetrators and protection to the Christians in the state.

The rally started at Gandhi Maidan and after passing through Frazer Road and Dak Bungalow Crossing, arrived at Hartali Chowk where it turned into a public meeting.

Patna Archbishop William D'Souja, leading the rally, blasted the Orissa government for failing to check crime against Christians.

"Since Christmas a few days ago, more than 70 Christian sites have been destroyed, several shops owned by the Christian community have been looted and damaged and a number of members of the Christian community have been attacked while the government has been looking the other way," the Archbishop said.

A delegate of the protestors also handed over memos to the Governor and Chief Minister's office asking them to demand a CBI probe in the Orissa incident.

The rally was also attended by Padmashree recipient Sudha Varghese, Patna Women's College Principal Sister Doris D'Souja, and other prominent Christian members of the society.
