JD-U Fires Back at RJD Allegations

Patna: January 5, 2008

State Janata Dal (U) party spokesperson Anil Pathak, on Saturday, lashed out at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leadership saying the former ruling party, despite a series of political setbacks in the state in the last two years, had failed to learn any lesson from its meltdown that would further speed up the demise of the party once and for all.

Pathak was reacting to the RJD national spokesperson Shyam Rajak and party state secretary Nihora Prasad Yadav's statement who had earlier said that the recently-concluded by-poll in Bikramganj was indicative of totalitarianism under the Nitish government and the win of the Janata Dal (U) candidate was in fact a win for dictatorship.

"These people appear to have lost their minds after a series of loss in the political arenas. Any other party, after such political disasters, would regroup and do a serious introspection to win back the support of the voters but the RJD leaders consider themselves above such analysis. It is the height of arrogance," Pathak said.

Party leader Ravindra Singh said Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi systematically destroyed Bihar in 15 years. "Voters finally realized the RJD sham and voted them out of power in the last Assembly elections. Then they were repeatedly shown the exit door at a number of by-polls in Bihar. Yet, these people continue to refuse to learn from their mistakes and keep blaming others for the political demise in the state.

Talking about holding polls in Bihar, Pathak said all the elections in the state under the NDA rule had been extremely peaceful and fair. "Such polls were not even thinkable under the Lalu-Rabri regime when fear, intimidation, and booth capturing ensured the opponents always lost and the Lalu candidates always won. Now that the elections are held under immense security to ensure fairness, the RJD is unable to digest this fact," he said.
