Photo by Shashi UttamCricket lovers in Patna on Sunday burnt the effigy of Australian on-field umpire Steve Bucknor for accusing Indian veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh of making racially-charged comments against Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds that led to his suspension for 3 Tests causing a virtual storm among the cricket fans in the nation.

Demanding immediate repeal of the suspension, agitated protestors accused the Australian Cricket Board, the umpires, and several Australian test players of discriminating against Indians and plotting to disgrace Singh and the rest of the Indian team.

"The Australian players called our boys bastards so why no action was taken against them," said Prateek Kumar, a cricket fan and a protestor.

As reported in the media, Australian spinner Brad Hogg allegedly uttered abusive words against Indian players and despite filing of an official protest, no penalty was imposed on him.
