Sameer Hussain, the 35-year old son of the famed beautician Shahnaz Hussain was found dead after he jumped off the third floor from an apartment building on Exhibition Road on Monday. The police is treating the case as a suicide, officials said.
As reported, Sameer, who is said to have been suffering from depression and was on some sort of drugs to combat his sickness, on Sunday evening, jumped off from the balcony of Maqbool Apartments where his in-laws live.
He was rushed to the Rajeshwar Hospital where he died on Monday despite doctors' attempt to save his life for several hours.
Mahfooz Ahmed, the father-in-law of Sameer, denied any family dispute saying his son-in-law who lived with his wife in New Delhi, arrived in Patna last week to attend his wife who is pregnant with his second child.
Sameer's wife Rabia and his 5-year old daughter were in Dhanbad to see a relative when the incident took place.
Ahmed said Sameer expressed his desire to have some tea and when he went into the kitchen, Sameer walked out to the balcony and jumped from there to his death.
Town DSP Sanjay Singh said that based on the preliminary investigation, it appeared to be a case of suicide though no suicide note was discovered from the apartment.
Following a post mortem, the body of Sameer was handed over to the family members who buried him at a cemetery in Phulwarisharif.
An emotionally distraught Shahnaz Hussain was ordered rest by her doctors and was not able to attend her son's funeral, family members said.
