Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while attending an award ceremony of the Crime Control and Investigation Department at the Mithilesh Stadium in Patna on Thursday, vowed to further empower the state police to counter criminal activities in the state and to restore law and order in Bihar.

"With hard works of the police and our policies of development in the state, we will make Bihar a very prosperous and thriving state," the Chief Minister said.

Kumar said that the state would provide better training, weapons, and uniform to the Bihar police because "the uniform is the symbol of law and the laws are his most powerful weapon".

The Chief Minister also emphasized the need of cooperation from the citizens of Bihar 'without which it would very difficult for the police to discharge its duties and responsibilities'.

Kumar, during the event, honored 463 police officials and 60 civilians for their 'outstanding' contributions in the area of protecting citizens and upholding human rights in the state.
