Late Education Secretary Honored by the CM
Patna: January 11, 2008
C hief Minister Nitish Kumar, while releasing a calendar and a souvenir magazine in memory of late Madan Mohan Jha, the Education Secretary, in Patna on Friday said that the government would soon implement the recommendations made in the Common School System report without which desirable changes could not be brought in Bihar schools.
Admitting that there were some financial impediments in the implementation of the Common School System report, Kumar said the administration was trying to find a solution for faster enforcement of the recommendations while hoping to get 6% contribution from the Center that, he said, it had agreed to in an earlier arrangement.
Attributing the delay in the implementation of the Common School System to the recent flooding in Bihar, Kumar said a sound education system was the only way to bring revolutionary economic changes in the state.
Kumar, while releasing the calendar bearing a picture of Jha and a memorabilia named 'Prachya Prabha' in honor of the late Education Secretary of Bihar who died prematurely last September, said Jha was not just a top-notch bureaucrat but a staunch educationist who believed in Bihari students and dedicated his life for the improvement in the standard of education in the state.
"Implementation of the Common School System in Bihar would be the true tribute to Jha," the Chief Minister said.
Jha's wife Nisha, his successor Anjani Kumar Singh, and Education Minister Brishan Patel were also present on the occasion.
