Weeklong Drama Fest to Open January 14

Kalidas Rangalaya in Patna will hold its 17th week-long Patna Theater Festival from January 14 in honor of its founder Anil Kumar Mukherjee. The festival that would run till January 20 promises to attract artists from several parts of Bihar, West Bengal, and New Delhi.

The seven-day event to be organized under the banner of Bihar Art Theater (BAT) would feature a dozen plays in Hindi, Bengali, and Bhojpuri, event coordinator said.

With Premchand's 'Sadgati' to kick off the festival, more plays including 'Gulshan' and 'Yeh Mera Desh' from Kolkata, Bhojpuri play 'Sahagin Banali Abhagin' from Kala Jagaran (Patna), 'Kathputli' by Bihar Drama Training Institute (Patna), 'Navjagaran' by SAIL (Durgapur), and 'Aag Dhadhak Rahi Hai' by Natraj Art Theater (Delhi) will regale the audience during the week-long dramafest.

Senior advocate and BAT president S. P. Singh will inaugurate the event while Rotarian Rajesh Gupta would be the chief guest.

Each play will run twice a day giving ample opportunity to drama lovers in case they miss the first show, BAT officials said.
