SBI Adopts 6 Children for Education
Patna: January 12, 2008
The State Bank of India, Boring Road branch in Patna, 'adopted' six girls on Saturday by pledging to take responsibility of their education in the form of Rs. 5,000 each, bank officials said at a function organized to promote banking facilities in the area.
Naresh Chandra Mathur, the bank's Assistant General Manager said the idea was to make a difference in the community despite the usually negative image of banks held by the people.
The children who would be supported by the bank are Anushka Rai, Shweta Kumari, Mahi Kumari, Sarita Solanki, and Akanksha Goswami.
The bank also 'adopted' Boring Road under a scheme dubbed as 'Trade Bonanza' in an attempt to promote various banking schemes to the business owners in the area, Mathur said.
"Our customers should feel that this is their branch and we are here to genuinely help them. A strong trust between the customers and the bank would not only help the bank but would also help in rebuilding the neighborhood," bank's General Manager Dr. R. K. Singh said.
