Recently Paroled Gangster Killed by his own Men

Patna: January 13, 2008

Notorious criminal Ranjan Kalia, on late Saturday night in Patna, was gunned down by his own gang members following a dispute over splitting of cash and goods that they acquired following a series of robberies in Patna, the police said on Sunday.

Kalia who had been released from the jail on bond just few weeks ago after spending more than 3 years behind bars, went back to his criminal activities leading to his murder by his own men, Sri Krishna Puri police station in-charge madan Kishore Singh said.

As reported, Kalia and his gang members had held up a man near Laxmi Nursing Home in Sri Krishna Puri on Saturday night and got away with Rs. 800 in cash while and his mobile phone.

Just hours later, the police caught up with one of the criminals identified as Om Sah of Rajapur who led them to Kalia's home only to find him missing.

On Sunday morning the police found out that someone had shot Kalia and he later died at the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH).

Based on information provided by Sah, the police are raiding many places to apprehend other members of the Kalia gang, Singh said.
