Burglars Hit Durga Temple, Drug Store in Patna

Patna: January 14, 2008

Burglars on late Sunday night broke into the Durga Temple near the New Police Line under Buddha Colony Police Station and made do with thousands of rupees worth of gold and silver jewelry, the police said on Monday.

As reported, the theft was discovered by the temple priest when he opened the door on Monday morning.

Among the missing items are a gold-plated crown and a chain from Durga's idol, the police said.

Surprisingly, in spite of being in close proximity of the New Police Line, the burglars managed to break in and get away with valuables.

In another though unrelated event, criminals in Yarpur under Gardanibagh police station broke into a drug store by cutting through the shutter and got away with Rs. 70,000 in cash.

An FIR was lodged by Dilip Kumar Sinha, the owner of Raj Medical Hall.

The police are investigating both cases.
