For the second day in a row, people in Patna on Tuesday celebrated Makar Sankranti by taking a bath in the Ganges and eating 'dahi-chura' and 'tilkut' while engaging in charity works by distributing dhotis, saris, and money.

Because of some celestial oddities this year, priests nationwide could not come to an agreement as to the actual date of Makar Sankranti which traditionally is always celebrated on January 14 each. As a result, devotees observed Sankranti on Monday as well as on Tuesday with equal spirit and fervor both days.

From early morning people started to gather at various ghats in Patna where, after taking a dip in the holy river, offered prayers at different temples in the city.

Heavy crowd was seen at Collectorate and Digha Ghat where security arrangement remained tight with several divers on call in case of any eventuality.
