Police to Arrest Wife of the Man Accused in Clerk's Killing

Patna: January 15, 2008

Following the arrest of two persons in the murder of state legislative council clerk Akhilesh Singh, the police in Patna said they intended to arrest Binod Singh's wife Kamala Singh for participating in hiding and disposing the victim's body and lying to the police, officials in Patna said.

On Tuesday, Binod Singh, under intense police grilling gave out a chilling account of how he killed Akhilesh Singh with a pickaxe, dragged his body into a Sumo vehicle, and dumped his body in a well in Gardanibagh when the victim came to his house to recover his money that he loaned to Binod Singh a few months ago.

The police has seized the Sumo as well as the murder weapon while preparing to arrest Kamala Singh who, they said, has gone into hiding.

As reported, Akhilesh Singh was reported missing on January 4. His motorcycle was found abandoned near a pond by the New Bypass Road. On Monday, the police recovered his body carefully wrapped in several layers of plastic from a well in Gardanibagh.
