Patna: January 16, 2008

Nitish Kumar at A. N. College. Photo by Shashi UttamStudents under the banner of National Students Union of India (NSUI) at A. N. College in Patna on Wednesday created a ruckus when they clashed with the college officials to press for their demands in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who was there to lay the foundation stone of Golden Jubilee building within the college campus.

Demanding to hold examinations in Magadh University on time, release of college degrees to those who had already graduated, and removal of the CRPF camp from the college campus, the students tried to disrupt the foundation laying event forcing the Chief Minister to intervene and ask the agitating students to calm down.

The situation was finally brought under control after the administration summoned police to prevent it from further aggravating.

The students later accused the police of opening lathi charge on them, an accusation vehemently denied by the police.
