Khushboo Sinha Honored with First Papiya Ghosh Award

At a function organized by the History Department of the Patna University on Saturday, Khushboo Sinha became the first ever recipient of the Papiya Ghosh Memorial Award started in memory of the Patna University professor Dr. Papiya Ghosh who was killed during a robbery attempt at her house in Pataliputra Colony in Patna on December 2, 2006.

"She was not only a teacher, she was also a friend of ours with whom we could share our most intimate feelings with. Today I am missing her and wish she would be with us," said Khusboo, the 2006-07 topper in the MA exams, at Darbhanga House in the presence of students and history teachers.

The award includes a medal, a check for Rs. 5,000 and books related with history.

Dr. Ghosh' sister Tuktuk Ghosh donated Rs. 1.5 lakh to the History department to be used for rewarding the toppers in the history department each year.

Several educationists including the former Vice Chancellor of Patna University Prof. J. N. Thakur and Prof. Bharti S. Kumar paid rich tribute to Dr. Ghosh in the presence of other teachers and students.
