Mauritius PM to Unveil Sir Ramgoolam's Statue in Patna

Photo by Shashi UttamChief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday paid a visit to the construction site on Exhibition Road near Gandhi Maidan in Patna where a life-size statue is being erected to honor the first Prime Minister of the independent Mauritius Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam whose ancestral roots, like many Mauritians, are in Bihar.

Kumar who was accompanied by the Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, Power Minister Vijendra Yadav, Building Construction Minister Dr. Monazir Hassan, and other senior bureaucrats, reviewed the construction work and directed the officials to install underground cable in the area to remove the clutter caused by the currently hanging wires and widen the road to keep the traffic from ge.

Mauritius' Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam would unveil the statue of his father at a state-sponsored function on February 18 during which the road to the north of Gandhi Maidan would be named after Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, the Chief Minister said.

During his three-day trip to Bihar, the Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit his ancestral village in Bihia.
