Ram Jatan Sinha to Launch a Fourth Front in Bihar
Patna: January 20, 2008
Former Congress leader Ram Jatan Sinha during a meeting at the S. K. Memorial Hall in Patna on Sunday, announced his decision to form a fourth front in Bihar under the banner of Bihar State Political Awareness Forum as an alternative to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Janata Dal – U, and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) saying the three major political parties in Bihar had betrayed the public by continuing to pit one community against another.
Promising to launch a statewide agitation on the pattern of 1974 and 1989, Sinha said that under the RJD and NDA, the dalits, the minorities, and the upper caste people had lost their voice and he would once again bring the community together to restore their pride in the state.
"Lalu lost the support of the upper castes helping the NDA grab power in Bihar. However, the NDA squandered away their support as well when they excluded them from contesting in Panchayat elections," Sinha said while describing the current NDA government as 'mission-less' and 'visionless'.
The former Congress leader said his party would take out a 'self-respect' rally in Patna on May 15 to protest against the failure of the Nitish government.
Rallies would also be organized in Nawada, Hajipur, Motihari, and Begusarai between February 10 and May 10 to take the party's message to the people of Bihar, Sinha said.
