Hearing on Lalu-Rabri DA Case Resumes

Patna: January 23, 2008

The Patna High Court on Wednesday resumed hearing on the petition earlier filed by the Nitish government challenging the exoneration of the Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife and former Chief Minister of Bihar Rabri Devi, in the disproportionate asset (DA) case, an offshoot of the multi-crore rupees fodder scam.

On Wednesday, representing the state, Supreme Court lawyer Surendra Singh told the court that there were several irregularities in the previous trial and there were some serious doubts about the credibility of the Special CBI judge Muni Lal Paswan who presided over the case.

Singh is expected to continue the presentation of his case tomorrow.

Senior constitutional lawyer Ram Jethmalani who represents the Yadavs, would present his arguments before the court on Friday.
