Five Bihari Labors Die in Road Accident in Karnataka

Five persons hailing from Bihar perished in a road accident in Mangalore in Karnataka on Saturday morning when a van carrying them to a construction site lost control and collided with a power post causing the pole to fall on the van and electrocuting eight persons in the vehicle while seriously injuring two others.

The victims belonged to Vaishali district in Bihar and worked in Mangalore as masons, officials said.

As reported, a van picked up the workers from their homes in Kotekar at around 3:30 in the morning to transport them to a construction site in Mangalore. With its driver possibly still half asleep, the van crashed into an electric pole on National Highway 17 causing high-voltage wire to fall on the vehicle killing eight of its occupants.

The victims from Bihar were identified as Pramod Kumar, Sanjay Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Sudhir Kumar, and Pappu Kumar.
