Housing, Job Reservation Demands of the Domestic Help Association
Patna: January 30, 2008
Activists under the banner of Domestic Help Association on Wednesday staged a dharna at the Income Tax roundabout in Patna to press for their demands including allotment of 'pucca' houses and education for their children.
Leading the pack, the association's state president Manju Devi said that until the conditions of the domestic helps improved, Bihar could not truly develop or claimed to be a developed state.
"Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is talking about development in all sectors but he has no time to think about our plights that have been ignored by leaders from all parties," said Manju Devi.
Meanwhile, the members of the All India Naukar-Dai Sangh took out a rally of their own dubbed as 'Ration-Kerosene' rally at the open-air theater of the Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir in Patna.
Demanding houses for the domestic helps and reservation in jobs for their offspring, the agitators called for the removal of the Nitish government for 'using force on their activists'.
