People in Patna on Wednesday observed the 60th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi by paying rich homage to the leader while also organizing a number of events to honor and continue the legacy of the spiritual leader who steered India out of the British rule.
At the local Expo 2008 at the Miller High School, the organizers held a cultural event to honor Gandhi. With religious hymns playing in the background, the visitors paid their tributes to a statue of Gandhi before proceeding to do some serious shopping at the fair.
Leaders from various parties also flocked to pay their respects to the leader at his statue at Gandhi Maidan while a group of people re-enacted the assassination of Gandhi at a play, also at Gandhi Maidan.
Another cultural show in honor of Mahatma Gandhi was organized by the artists of Indian People Theater's Association (IPTA) in Patna.
