Opposition Deliberately Sabotaging Progress in Bihar: CM
Patna: January 28, 2008
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna on Monday lashed out at the Central Ministers from Bihar for continuing to criticize the state administration on the issue of providing lands for various developmental projects saying these ministers were unable to complete the projects already underway in Bihar and were trying to shift the blame on the state government to conceal their failures.
"The fact is the Railway Minister has no intention to complete railway projects in Bihar to keep the state backward. Railway factory in Harnaut, railway lines in Daniawan and Patna-Gaya line, railway bridge in Patna – all these projects are going at a snail's pace and yet Lalu Prasad Yadav continues to blame the government for not providing lands for other projects. How about trying to finish what has already been started?" the Chief Minister asked countering the claims of the opposition leaders at a press conference following the Janata Durbar on Monday.
Kumar also blamed the opposition leaders for leading the charge against the state government on the issue of acquiring lands from villagers for various developmental projects.
"On one hand they blame us for not providing them lands for various schemes and on the other; they oppose and incite the villagers to not give up their lands. It is clear that they are acting out of political vendetta and do not want to see Bihar as a developed state.
The Chief Minister also ridiculed the Congress leaders' statements that in the next election it would not seek any political party's help and would go solo all the way.
"The Congress is yet to learn from its mistakes. It does not need the help of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) to send itself further in the political abyss; its own leaders would bring a complete political death to the party," Kumar said.
