12-year old Girl Struck by Bus, Killed on NH-83

A speeding bus on National Highway 83 ran over a 10-year old girl near Nadaul Bazaar killing her on the spot causing an outrage in the area as hundreds of angry villagers blocked the road and demanding the arrest of the bus driver and compensation for the victim's family.

As reported, 12-year old Pinki Kumari was returning home from her school on Friday afternoon when a speeding bus struck her throwing her several feet in the air and killing her on the spot.

The driver and his helper managed to slip away by mingling in the crowd, officials said.

Pinki was identified as the daughter of Nadaul resident Chhote Lal Yadav and the granddaughter of Nadaul constable Dwarka Yadav.

Angry villagers blocked the Patna-Gaya Road for nearly two hours affecting the traffic movement that also included the vehicles carrying Bihar State Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Chowdhary and Aurangabad District Magistrate.

Nearly an hour after the accident, senior police officials including the Block Development Officer (BDO) Chandan Kumar Mandal, arrived at the accident spot and managed to remove the blockade while giving Rs. 5,000 to the victim's family.

The police will launch an investigation to identify the driver and owner of the bus, the BDO said.
