Photo by Anupam SinghHundreds of activists belonging to a dozen or so trade unions in Patna on Wednesday took out a protest rally to highlight the state and Central government's failure to check rising cost of living while announcing their resolve to observe a Bihar bandh on August 20.

The rally started at Gandhi Maidan and ended up at the R-Block where it turned into a public meeting.

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) General Secretary Chakradhar Prasad Singh said that the working class under the UPA government had got the raw deal with poor becoming poorer and rich becoming richer.

"Both the state and the Central governments have failed to address the issues concerning the working and labor class and we are not going to just sit and pretend to ignore the problems. On August 20, we will observe a Bihar bandh and would launch a nationwide protest in a phased manner," Singh said.
