Speeding Truck Runs over Motorcycle; Kills Two

Patna: July 23, 2008

A brother-sister duo were killed when a speeding truck mowed over their motorcycle near Beur crossing on New Bypass Road under Gardanibagh police station in Patna on Wednesday. The victims were the resident of Makdumpur, the police said.

As reported, Pappu Kumar and his cousin Arti were returning from Patna on a Hero Honda motorcycle at around 1:00 pm when a truck with Uttar Pradesh tag hit them from behind.

The impact killed Arti on the spot while Pappu died while being transported to a hospital in Patna.

Phulwarisharif DSP Dilnawaz Ahmed, who happened to be in the vicinity when the accident occurred, gave a chase to the fleeing truck driver and was able to catch up and arrest him.

The driver of the truck was identified as Rama Kant Yadav of Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.
