Munshi Premchand's Anniversary Observed

A number of private and political organizations in Patna on Thursday observed the birth anniversary of noted writer and social commentator late Munshi Premchand by organizing events meant to promote his social ideas and vision of a secular society.
"Munshi Premchand was a visionary who openly advocated harmonious relationship between Hindus and Muslims. His stories are full with such examples that the leaders of today need to pay attention to," Alok Dhanwa of Janwadi Lekhak Sangh said.
Noted literateur Dr. Mahendra Prasad Verma, referring to Premchand's stories like 'Thakur ka Kuan', 'Idgaah', 'Kafan', and 'Godaan', said that writer was a realist to the core whose messages were pertinent today more than ever before.
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India (ML) activists in Patna paid respect to the writer by placing flowers at his statue.
