Former Bihar election overseer K. J. Rao, during his keynote speech at a seminar organized by the Arcade Business College in Patna on Saturday said Bihar lacked good leadership resulting in its current economic quandary and the youths of the state must step forward and assume active role in rebuilding and restoring its lost glories.

"For success in any walk of life, one must be bursting with energy and this energy has to be acquired and not inherited," the architect of the 2005 state Assembly elections Rao said adding he was a prime example of a person who overcame all difficulties that comes from hailing from a small place, in his case a small village in Andhra Pradesh.

"The people of Bihar are very hard-working and tenacious but in the absence of good leadership the state has fallen behind on economic fronts resulting in the mass exodus of Bihari youths to other parts of the country. There is a pressing need of rebuilding Bihar and the government must provide an environment that lures Biharis to come back to their state and help turn this state around," Rao said.

Senior IAS officer Manoj Srivastava also challenged the youths of Bihar to step up to the plate and assume the responsibility of rebuilding the state.

"Keep your minds open and think about any problem in an objective, critical manner. If everyone assumed responsibilities and did his part, there is no reason why Bihar could not become as developed as many other states in the nation," Srivastava said.
