Motorcycle Thieves Gang Busted, 8 Arrested

Patna: March 3, 2008

Patna police on late Sunday night raided a number of places in Kadam Kuan and Rajendra Nagar areas and arrested eight persons on charges of running an interstate ring of motorcycle thieves, the police in Patna said on Monday.

Based on some tips, the Patna police raided a number of locations in Kadam Kuan, Rajendra Nagar, Jagat Narayan Road, Exhibition, and Buddha Colony and arrested eight youths including Mukesh Rajak, Ashish Kumar, Kishan Kumar, Roshan Kumar, Rohitraj, Piyush Kumar, Noor Alam, and Anand Prakash – all in the 20s and 30s with a long history of crime.

The ring leader of the gang Subhrant Kumar, a.k.a. Shibu, however, remains at large as the police continue to grill the eight men in custody.

The gang is believed to be behind over 250 motorcycle theft in Patna district, police said.
