RJD MP from Sitamarhi Faces Arrest on Abduction Charges

Patna: March 4, 2008

A Sitamarhi court on Tuesday issued a warrant for the arrest of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Sitaram Yadav on charges of attempting to kidnap and intimidate Fakir Ram, a witness in a land dispute case.

The warrant was issued against Yadav after Ram Pramod Sahni, a Sitamarhi resident, filed a complaint with the police alleging the MP, his son Krishna Kumar and a posse of his henchmen tried to abduct Fakir Ram after he refused to surrender to their threatening tactics involving a piece of land in the district.

Fakir was taken away by Yadav and his men but later released unharmed after villagers mounted pressure on the police.

Yadav denies the allegations calling it a witch-hunt by the ruling NDA leaders and maintains he would be exonerated in the court of law.
