Students Protest against Coaching Institute Owners

Patna: March 5, 2008

Dozens of students of ICA Coaching Institute in Kankarbagh in Patna on Wednesday demonstrated outside the institute accusing the management of financially exploiting them and engaging in false advertisement leading to confusion and mental agony.

"The owners of the coaching institute took hefty amount of money from us while failing to provide even the most basic learning tools. They also guarantee job after completing course with them but many of their former students are still unemployed and there is no sign of a refund," the protestors shouted.

The incident caused a massive road jam between Kankarbagh and Rajendra Nagar as senior police officials rushed to the site to douse the situation.

Following an FIR against the owners of the institute Rajiv Shroff and Mahesh Singh, the police on late Wednesday evening arrested the latter.

An investigation has been initiated to look into any irregularity as charged by the students of the institute, Kankarbagh police station in-charge Ramakant Prasad said.
